Fuso Motriz

Débora Bolsoni

Galeria Superfície opens on September 16th the second solo exhibition by artist Débora Bolsoni, with text by Leandro Muniz. The exhibition entitled ‘Fuso Motriz’ presents unpublished works developed between 2020 and 2021, which echo the artist’s internal state of mind in the face of the social isolation experienced in recent times.

In fact, time is the conductor of the exhibition. Known for her works with a strong spatial presence, Débora seems to have transformed her relationship with space, in response to her absence, to explore the notations of time. She lets herself be affected by the lack of social experiences, implying the almost nullification of the volume in this individual’s works.

Sheet metal is painted with latex paint and forms a white surface that appears to span the wall. On this plane, she sketches elements that go back to clock dials, data graphs, radars, and other instruments for measuring time. Her trace is light and does not change with the scale of work. If writing is the perpetuation of something, here it becomes almost ephemeral. In her works, time is linked and the territory is mental: more visual and less corporeal. But, in a way, Débora continues to respond to the space: her works go to the wall, conversing with the strong and clean architecture of the gallery.

The exhibition is on view until November 13th and can be visited from Tuesday to Friday, from 10am to 7pm, and Saturday, from 11am to 5pm.
